KOTA KINABALU: The Farmers’ Organisation (PP) is widely recognised for its crucial contributions to advancing the agricultural and farming sectors in Sabah.
Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, the Honorary President of the Sabah Farmers’ Organisation (PPN), highlighted that the organisation provides numerous advantages to the people of Sabah when it is actively involved.
He pointed out that engaging in farming activities, utilising land as a resource, can be straightforward if there is a genuine commitment to its development.
“Despite the introduction of various technologies today, the essence remains the land. Land is fundamental to farming; as the saying goes, ‘to cultivate the land.’ My philosophy is to keep it simple; for instance, one plus one should equal two without complicating it unnecessarily. This means utilising the land with the skills at hand, as the key focus should be on how to leverage the land for the state’s growth,” he said.
These comments were made during the 36th Annual General Meeting Dinner of the Sabah Farmers’ Organisation, held at the Promenade Hotel on Wednesday, with the Chairman of PPN Sabah, Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah, also in attendance.
Salleh, a former Chief Minister of Sabah, emphasised that merely holding a position does not ensure the success of an organisation like the Farmers’ Organisation.
Instead, he stressed that a strong commitment to the organisation’s advancement should be the top priority for its leadership in the state.
