Anwar pledges to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to achieving MA63

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has promised to work hard to fully implement the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

He said that he and his team in the MA63 action council will keep pushing to make this happen.

Anwar recognised that there are challenges to overcome but praised Sarawak’s premier, Datuk Seri Abang Johari Openg, and Sabah’s chief minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, for their strong cooperation with the federal government.

He noted, “I am grateful that my two trusted friends have worked well together, communicated openly, and offered helpful feedback.”

They have shared their concerns in a collaborative way to improve Malaysia, and Anwar hopes other leaders will follow their example.

He spoke at the Malaysia Day celebration in Kota Kinabalu on Monday night.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof mentioned that 11 demands from the MA63 negotiations have been resolved, with seven completed during Anwar’s leadership.

Anwar emphasised the government’s commitment to improving the lives of all citizens, especially in rural and impoverished areas, through teamwork and ongoing discussions between federal and state leaders, including those from East Malaysia. He stressed that every state faces unique challenges and that the voices of the people must be heard.

“For Malaysia to thrive, all leaders must serve every Malaysian, no matter their background,” he added.
