KOTA KINABALU: The United Sabah Bumis Organisation (USBO) has announced plans to celebrate Hari Pembentukan Sabah on 1 November 1, 2024, marking 143 years since the formal establishment of Sabah on 1 November 1881.
This important date signifies the foundation of modern governance in Sabah, beginning with the establishment of the British North Borneo Chartered Company.
The event will showcase Sabah’s rich history, cultural heritage, and development.
It will feature cultural performances, exhibitions, and community engagement activities, highlighting Sabah’s unity and progress over the past 143 years.
In addition to celebrating Sabah’s diverse heritage, the event will also recognise the contributions of Bumiputra Islam people in Sabah, such as Bajau, Ubian, Malay, Iranun, and Suluk, among others, to Sabah’s historical and cultural evolution, while maintaining a broader focus on unity and inclusivity.
USBO President, Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, said that “Hari Pembentukan Sabah is an opportunity to honour our shared history while looking forward to a bright future for all Sabahans.”
