KOTA KINABALU: A former Umno treasurer believes that former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will not reveal the names of the 115 MPs who allegedly supported him for the prime minister position in 2022.
Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak argues that doing so could harm Muhyiddin’s credibility if some MPs do not confirm their support.
“If Muhyiddin loses credibility, Perikatan Nasional (PN) might replace him with a more trustworthy leader,” he said in his latest Facebook post.
He expressed confidence that Muhyiddin would not name the MPs as challenged by Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi, stating that Muhyiddin likely lacks that level of support and is only making assumptions.
Recently, Muhyiddin stirred controversy by questioning why he was not invited by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to be prime minister after the 2022 elections, claiming he had enough support to form a government.
His comments led to police reports against him and criticism from the Pahang crown prince, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
