KOTA KINABALU: Malaysians should really take note of the Prime Minister’s message about the need to focus on efforts that foster social integration among the various racial and religious groups in the country.
In making the call, former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak sai that the Prime Minister’s request for everyone to boost racial and religious harmony needs to be turned into real actions.
He pointed out that it matches the goals shared by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during his latest visit to Sabah.
“Concrete measures must be developed to cultivate trust and acceptance among different races and religions from an early age.
“This is essential for achieving peaceful coexistence, understanding, and acceptance among diverse racial, ethnic, and religious communities within our society,” he said in his latest Facebook update.
Consequently, Salleh, who is also the Usukan assemblyman, suggested that the public should assess whether the existing educational framework is the most effective means to promote social integration, as well as to encourage understanding and tolerance of various ethnic cultural behaviours and religious practices.
