KOTA KINABALU: Sitim Bandaron, a seasoned KDM singer, has taken on the role of president for the recently formed Gabungan Artis Seni Tempatan Sabah (GASTS).
The aim is to provide assistance and support in safeguarding the welfare and interests of local artists in the state.
Given the challenges faced by artists and entertainers in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, GASTS members have united to persevere in the entertainment industry.
This is particularly crucial in addressing issues concerning artists and singers within the KDM community.
According to Sitim, the newly registered association by the Sabah Registrar of Societies (ROS) aims to unite artists in the state.
Furthermore, he said it aims to continuously organise vocal workshops and songwriting workshops.
“We also aspire to hold music workshops and help discover new talents as well as polish existing talents.
“We also plan to organise traditional music workshops and everything related to the arts,” he said in a statement here today.
Sitim said the official launch of GASTS is expected to take place in October, in conjunction with the Thanksgiving ceremony for the establishment of the association.
He said membership in the association is open to those aged 12 and above.
Sitim said those interested in becoming GASTS members can contact him at 011-10785732.
