Sabah and Sarawak Should Establish a Permanent Joint Committee on MA63, says former Sabah lawmaker

KOTA KINABALU: A former Sabah lawmaker has suggested Sabah and Sarawak consider collaborating to form a permanent Joint Committee on MA63 to effectively address the outstanding issues related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Datuk James Ligunjang said this partnership would strengthen their united front when engaging with the federal government.

“By presenting a unified voice and shared concerns, Sabah and Sarawak would have a stronger platform to advocate for their interests under MA63,” he said in his latest social media post.

Ligunjang said to ensure the legal foundation for this Joint Committee, a resolution must be passed by both the State Assemblies of Sabah and Sarawak.

With this approach, the former Petagas assemblyman said it allows Sabah and Sarawak to work together to achieve their objectives related to MA63.
