He further encouraged all members to unite behind the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and support the chosen candidate for the Bengkoka state seat in the upcoming state election (PRN).

Dr. Joachim said political unity was vital to prevent the opposition from gaining an advantage in the election, citing past instances where division led to opposition victories.

During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bengkoka PBS division on Sunday, Dr. Joachim praised the division chief, Dr. Samuil Mopun, and his team for significantly increasing the number of active members from 1,002 in 2020 to over 4,000 today.

He expressed pride in the division’s membership growth and highlighted the potential for further expansion.

Dr. Joachim also discussed the GRS Government’s commitment to advocating for Sabah’s rights as outlined in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

He criticised the previous 20-year rule of the National Front (BN) in Sabah for neglecting Sabah’s rights, particularly the 40 percent revenue share owed to the state.

As the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Dr. Joachim clarified that the 40 percent demand pertains specifically to revenue generated within Sabah, excluding any revenue from other states in the Peninsula.

The AGM was attended by a total of 569 delegate members.
