KOTA KINABALU: The president of the Sabah West Coast Wise Consumers Association, David Chan, has been appointed as the National Consumer Foundation Sabah chairman effective June 10, this year.
Chan conveyed his appreciation to the Foundation for the appointment and stated, “Our goal is to safeguard the interests and rights of consumers in Sabah and to work closely with all government agencies and the private sector.”
He emphasised that the collaboration between the Sabah and federal levels in addressing consumer issues brings significant advantages to all consumers in Sabah.
In a statement on Monday, Chan discussed the restructuring of diesel subsidies and extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali for the continuous provision of diesel subsidies for Sabah and Sarawak.
“Given Sabah’s extensive terrain with challenging roads, we rely on four-wheel-drive vehicles that consume substantial amounts of diesel, as well as large and small boats to connect the remote areas of Sabah.
“We urge all authorities to consistently monitor any misappropriation and leakage of subsidised diesel distributed to all users in the Sabah region to ensure that all Sabah users can benefit from the subsidies provided through the Prime Minister’s concern,” he remarked.
