KOTA KINABALU: The President of the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, has not dismissed the possibility of a sole party governing Sabah independently without forming any coalition.
He points out that this has been demonstrated in the past when Sabah was solely governed by Berjaya and PBS.
As such, he emphasised the importance of assessing the strength of any coalition formed through cooperation with other parties.
“I have previously collaborated with Pakatan Harapan (PH), where each party requested seats and only the ones using the Warisan logo won, while those using their own logo only won two seats.
“I remember that, based on history, the people of Sabah once decided to choose a single party. Berjaya ruled for 10 years without any coalition, and after that, PBS ruled Sabah for another 10 years. This means that there is already experience from the past without any coalition,” he said to reporters at his residence here on Tuesday.
Prior to that, he received a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, B. Nagabhushana Reddy.
He believes that the decision of who governs Sabah ultimately rests with the people as voters in the upcoming elections.
Mohd Shafie emphasises the need for a united movement, comprehensive plans, and policies to ensure the development, stability, and progress of Sabah.
