LAHAD DATU: A threatening 4-metre-long male copper crocodile was shot dead by the Wildlife Department (JHL) forces in Kampung Sapagaya last Tuesday.
Sylvester Wong, an assistant from the Lahad Datu JHL, said they received a complaint from the villagers around 9:00 p.m..
“A crocodile emerged in the Sapagaya river near the villagers’ houses, and they were worried it would endanger other residents,” he said in a media statement today.
He said that two JHL staff members then rushed to the location for further action.
“A shot was fired, hitting the crocodile, and the reptile’s carcass was successfully lifted with the help of the villagers, then taken for further action,” Sylvester explained.
