KOTA KINABALU: The winner among the 10 finalists of the ‘Anugerah Juara Carta Lagu Artis Sabah (CLAS-15) season 15 can look forward to receiving a grand prize of RM23,000 in cash.
This highly anticipated event is scheduled to be held at the Recital Hall, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on the upcoming Saturday.
Deputy Director of the Sabah Broadcasting Department, Cyril Simon, said that among the 10 songs competing in the final round are Menanti Akhirnya Malam by singer Cearah, Sumpah Setia by Santiana Ramli, Sakitku Bahagiamu by Fadh Lee, and Teguh by Qalisya.
He said other songs in the final round include Kisah Kita by Ires, Cinta Tak Sempurna by Rocasia, Kerlingan Rindu by Syarweena, Penjaga Jodoh by Apiz Paschya, Mungkin ini Bukan Sayang by Velvet, and Rasa Hati by Verryca B.
“The aim of this competition is to encourage the creation of songs in Malay, especially among song composers in Sabah, to be sung by local Sabah artists.
“In addition to encouraging Sabah composers to produce high-quality Malay songs that can penetrate the market outside of Sabah,” he said at a press conference today.
Cyril said that the special performance for CLAS-15 will be by the RTM Orchestra, themed ‘Majestic Batik’.
“Reflecting on the selection process to win the title of Champion Song, which is broadcast every week with 10 songs composed by local composers,.
“All artists will compete in the weekly chart show broadcast every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for 52 weeks through Sabah FM,” Cyril explained.
During this 15th season, a total of 46 songs were nominated for the chart and drawn through a Google form available on the Facebook Fan Page of Carta Lagu Artis Sabah (CLAS).
“The cash prize for the Champion Song is RM5,000, while the winner of Best Vocalist will receive RM3,000 and Best Lyrics RM3,000, along with certificates and accompanying prizes,” he said.
