PBS and STAR MoU can be likened to formalising a “Sibling Party” relationship, says Mudi Dubing

KOTA KINABALU: The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) is perceived to solely benefit the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) rather than the people of the state, as stated by Warisan Supreme Council member Mudi Dubing.

He emphasised the importance for the people of Sabah to critically assess whether this agreement will truly bring about positive outcomes for them or if it primarily serves the interests of PBS and STAR Sabah.

Mudi questioned the sincerity of this coalition in assisting the people of Sabah, raising concerns about whether their intentions are genuine or if they are simply bolstering GRS in preparation for the upcoming state election.

“If this coalition fails to secure enough seats, they will surely side with or switch support to any other coalition to form the government later.

“STAR Sabah has proven to have these characteristics… This MoU should be used to fight for the rights of the people of Sabah.. This MoU is not meant to fight for the Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) people in this state.

“This coalition only benefits and strengthens GRS, seen as only fulfilling their own interests,” he said in a statement here today.

Mudi, who is the Pensiangan Warisan Division chief, inquired about the significance of GRS to the Dusun ethnic group in Sabah, despite their land being taken away. “Did Dr. Jeffrey ever attempt to defend their rights in the cabinet while holding the position of Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry of Sabah?

“Have we ever heard Dr. Jeffrey protest, threaten to leave if the government fails to resolve land issues, especially involving the KDM people? None…”

“History also shows that Datuk Mark Kording, Tan Sri Bernard Giluk Dompok, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, left PBS because of Dr. Jeffrey. Since then and now, has PBS ever governed what has been done by PBS?

“Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam is with PBS while STAR Sabah has Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan….But what are they fighting for the KDM community? Mudi explained.

Overall, Mudi said, this MoU only aims to fulfill the needs of GRS’s strength and is confident of achieving a big victory in the upcoming Sabah State Election.
