TAWAU: The initiative by the Sabah state government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, which provides a special one-off assistance of RM600 per person, is very heartening news for around 18,000 students from this state who are pursuing their studies in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Labuan.
Taking into account the high flight ticket prices, especially during festive seasons, this inaugural initiative is very helpful for students to return to their families and undoubtedly adds to the joy of this year’s Eid celebration.
Community activist Mohd. Zaki Harry Susanto said that this demonstrates the Sabah state government’s concern for the interests of students as well as the transparency of the Chief Minister, who always understands the pulse of the people, especially students.
This is because, he said, this initiative is not limited to Muslim students but is also extended to all students from Sabah, regardless of religion or belief.
Zaki made these remarks in response to the recent announcement made by the Chief Minister of Sabah.
Furthermore, Zaki added that despite the significant cost of around RM10 million, it will not deter the Sabah government’s noble intentions to continue prioritising the people in line with the spirit of ‘Sabah Maju Jaya’.
“We need a state government and leadership that always defends the interests and prioritises the welfare of the people.
“I am confident that after this, the Sabah state government will continue to take various other initiatives that can alleviate the burden of the people of Sabah,” he said, hoping the present state government will continue to shine.
