TAWAU: The Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) is calling on both individuals and corporate entities to support the Charitable Iftar Program at 25 locations across Sabah.
UPPM director Datuk Awang Kadin Tang said that the program will kick off in Kalabakan district and conclude in Keningau on March 24.
The contributions will include food items and volunteer assistance for distribution to the less fortunate during Ramadan, he said.
Awang Kadin emphasized the positive impact of the program in spreading hope and urged more companies, including GLCs, to contribute to this noble cause.
Awang Kadin has called for an increased involvement of government-linked companies (GLCs) and other corporations in contributing funds towards community initiatives and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for this program.
On the other hand, Datuk Dexter Lau, the Director of Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad, highlighted that the collaboration with UPPM is a recent effort to support those in need, including orphanages, during the month of Ramadan.
“We are also actively involved in organizing iftar gatherings to alleviate the financial burden on families in need during Ramadan. Additionally, we visit orphanages and help the children choose their favorite Eid clothes at 10 nearby Servay Supermarkets,” Dexter Lau elaborated.
He emphasized that this demonstrates the shared dedication of corporate entities and the state government in serving the community, promoting joy, and nurturing unity throughout Ramadan.
