KOTA KINABALU: Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah, the women’s doubles shuttlers, achieved a remarkable victory over China’s top-ranked pair Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan, securing a place in the quarterfinals of the All-England tournament.
Despite never having defeated Qingchen-Yifan in their previous five encounters in international competitions, the 15th-ranked Pearly-Thinaah displayed an exceptional performance, defeating the Chinese duo 22-20, 21-16 in a thrilling match that lasted 49 minutes.
This victory presents Pearly-Thinaah with a promising opportunity to advance to their first-ever semifinal in this prestigious tournament.
However, they will face a tough challenge in the quarterfinals against Japan’s 11th-ranked pair Rena Miyaura-Ayako Sakuramoto today.
