TAMPARULI: A trailer driver died when the vehicle he was driving skidded before crashing into a hillside at Kampung Kelawat, Tamparuli on Sunday night.
According to Harian Metro, the victim, Raimon Wadang, 33, died at the scene due to being trapped in the driver’s seat.
Assistant Fire and Rescue Officer Riki Mohan Singh Ramday from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s Central Operations Movement (PGO) said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 7.46 p.m..
A team of personnel, including officers with machinery and the Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS), was subsequently dispatched to the incident location on Jalan Tamparuli, approximately 40km from the station.
“Initial reports indicated that the accident involved a trailer skidding on its own and crashing into the hillside.
One victim was successfully extricated by the fire and rescue team,” he said.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers and handed over to the police for further action.
“The operation was fully concluded at 9.20 p.m.,” he said.
