KOTA KINABALU: The state government will continue to strive to ensure the security and peace enjoyed by the diverse population in this state remain preserved, said the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said that security provides an opportunity for the people to celebrate and embrace their respective celebrations and cultures, such as the Chinese New Year, in a harmonious environment.
“The state government will also continue to support it to ensure the diversity of celebrations and cultures of the people can be preserved and passed on to future generations.
“We are grateful that the Malaysian people in Sabah, especially those of Chinese descent, will celebrate the Chinese New Year this year, which is the Year of the Dragon, in a peaceful, harmonious, and joyful atmosphere.
“May the arrival of this new year bring more economic progress and prosperity to the people and the state, as well as further enhance various sectors including tourism, investment, and human capital development,” he said in his message in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration 2024, held here on Thursday.
Hajiji also extended his Chinese New Year greetings to all the Chinese community in this state.
“On behalf of the state government and my family, I would like to wish a happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai, to all the Chinese community and those celebrating it in this state,” he said.
