In a statement issued today, Goh was convinced that with his wise governance of Johor state for many years and his approachable style, Sultan Ibrahim in his capacity as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia will be able to provide necessary and timely advice to the federal government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, based on the broader national consensus, ensuring our country moves towards a more democratic and robust development.

He said, Huazong and the Chinese Assembly Halls of each state warmly welcome and congratulate His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s ascension as Malaysia’s 17th King, besides congratulating Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, the ruler of Perak, for being re-elected as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the third time. Goh who is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC), hopes that in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, this year, His Majesty can conduct a historic visit to China, to further promote closer rapport and cooperation in economy, trade, and various fields between the two countries.
