Huazong hails His Majesty’s assurance of a fair administration for Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) fully supports His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s assurance of “a fair administration besides upholding the laws and constitution of the nation loyally” during his reign for the next five years, which he declared during his oath-taking ceremony as the 17th King of Malaysia on Wednesday.

“Our constitutional monarchy and spirit cherished since the foundation of our nation must continue to be supported by all Malaysians,” said its President, Tan Sri T.C Goh

In a statement issued today, Goh was convinced that with his wise governance of Johor state for many years and his approachable style, Sultan Ibrahim in his capacity as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia will be able to provide necessary and timely advice to the federal government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, based on the broader national consensus, ensuring our country moves towards a more democratic and robust development.

He said, Huazong and the Chinese Assembly Halls of each state warmly welcome and congratulate His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s ascension as Malaysia’s 17th King, besides congratulating Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, the ruler of Perak, for being re-elected as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the third time. On behalf of Huazong and the Chinese Assembly Halls, Goh also expressed their loyalty and support to both Sultan Ibrahim and Sultan Nazrin.

Goh, who is also the President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) believes that with the cooperation, supervision, and assistance of the Malay rulers in each state, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim who is well known for his love for the people, will continue to ensure political stability and social peace of the country, by promoting racial harmony and national prosperity.

He also welcomed the remarks made by Chinese President Xi Jinping in his congratulatory message, stating that “China is willing to engage in friendly exchanges with Sultan Ibrahim, leading the two nations to continuous achievements, bringing more welfare to the people of both countries, and making greater contributions to regional prosperity and stability.”

Goh who is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC), hopes that in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, this year, His Majesty can conduct a historic visit to China, to further promote closer rapport and cooperation in economy, trade, and various fields between the two countries.

He further noted that since governing Johor state till now, His Majesty has always maintained good relations with China, assisting the government in attracting many Chinese-funded enterprises and tourists, accelerating the development and prosperity of various sectors in Johor. This clearly shows that His Majesty is very much in sync with the Malaysian government’s pro-China policy.

Meanwhile, on behalf of Huazong and the Chinese Assembly Halls of each state, Goh also expressed their sincere appreciation to the great contributions made by the retiring King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during his tenure, especially in stabilizing political situation in the country, which was very significant and meritorious and will be forever recorded in history of Malaysia.
