KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (ANAK NEGERI), under the leadership of Datuk Henrynus Amin, is considering rebranding the local party to make it more contemporary and relevant to the needs of the day.
However, Henrynus said that due to time constraints, the rebranding might not happen anytime soon.
“There is indeed a proposal to rebrand Anak Negeri (Name Change) but time does not permit. It looks like the state election (PRN) might be held next year,” he told Jesselton Times.
The current term of the Sabah Government is scheduled to end in 2025, but there are rumors that the state legislative assembly may be dissolved as early as next year to make way for the 17th Sabah elections, he added.
Henrynus said Anak Negeri is now in the process of searching for capable leaders who will bring the party to greater heights.
“So, for now, Anak Negeri only functions as a political pressure party,” he said.
Anak Negeri is a political party in Malaysia that focuses on the state of Sabah.
Anak Negeri was originally known as Parti Kerjasama Rakyat Sabah (PAKAR) before being rebranded as Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri) in 2017.
Anak Negeri initially intended to contest in the 2013 Malaysian general election but Anak Negeri’s registration was only approved by the ROS in November 2013.
In the 14th General Election 2018, the candidates of the Anak Negeri for the first time competed in several Parliamentary seats and State seats.
