KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has thanked the Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH), which recently withdrew the originating suit (OS) against the government regarding the demand for 40% of Sabah’s revenue after having faith in the unity government to implement MA63.
“Recently, there were members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN), part of Pakatan Harapan (PH), challenging the government on the issue of the implementation of MA63.
“I thank you for withdrawing the suit against the federal government. Since we took over the government and Chief Minister Hajiji is aware of this, I have directed all our efforts to implement what we promised through MA63,” he said.
He made these remarks at the winding-up ceremony of the Islamic Affairs Management Convention in conjunction with the 2023 Ijtimak Perdana Agensi Agama Seluruh Malaysia (IJPAM) at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here last night.
Anwar assured that he will continue to work closely with the Sabah government to achieve the desired result, particularly on the implementation of the MA63.
He said that since taking over the government at the end of last year, the federal government has made every effort to implement whatever is contained in the agreement.
The agreement made by the leaders of Sabah, Sarawak, and the Peninsula when Malaysia was formed in 1963 should be carried out, according to the prime minister.
“The agreement between Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular led to the accord that the previous leaders put into effect.
“Therefore, it is my responsibility and that of our generation to put the agreement into practise. I pledge close collaboration with Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the chief minister of Sabah; together, we’ll step up our efforts and pay attention to whatever has to be done,” he said.
