KDM president calls on Sabahans living in Pulai, Simpang Jeram to support Unity Government candidates

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president Datuk Peter Anthony has called on Sabahans who are currently residing in Johor, particularly in the Pulai Parliamentary constituency and the Simpang Jeram state constituency, to support the candidates from the Unity Government in the by-elections on Saturday.

He said that the victory of the Unity Government’s candidate is essential for the continuation of the development project in the area, particularly the one initiated by the incumbent, the late Dato’ Seri Salehuddin Ayub.

Peter said that planning to preserve the welfare and improve the socio-economics of the people in the two areas concerned needs to be continued, and it can only be done through people’s representatives from the government.

As we all know, September 9 is the voting day for the by-election in the Pulai Parliament and Simpang Jeram, and we also know that there are so many Sabahans who have settled in Johor, including Pulai.

“I believe that our people (Sabah) who have settled in Johor are wise to choose, and certainly they want a leader who is not from the party, which often plays the 3R issue (religion, race, and royal institutions).

“Elect leaders who are able to bring continuity to development in their respective areas. We know that the late Allahyarham (Salahuddin), who is famous for his menu rahmah initiative, not only devoted a lot to the people of the whole country but also to the areas he represented before.

“Give support to the government candidate led by YAB, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, this Saturday, for the sake of political stability and the economic recovery of the country,” he said in a statement today.

Peter said the actions of some political leaders, especially from the opposition, who often play the 3R issue, are totally unacceptable in Sabah.

He is also confident that Sabahans who have settled on the Peninsula, especially in Johor, cannot accept the opposition’s ‘sentimental game’.

Previously, during the elections in six states, I met many Sabahans, especially those who have settled in Selangor.

“They said the spirit of unity among them is so intact despite living abroad, just like when they were in Sabah.

“They want a harmonious atmosphere just like in their home state, an atmosphere that has not had problems related to race and religion for a long time,” he said.

Johor is the state with the largest population of Sabahans other than Selangor.
