KUALA PENYU: National Day must be strengthened across the nation during national month in order to inspire a sense of patriotism within the local community.
In making the call, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Siti Aminah Haji Aching said this includes celebrating the national day at the level of Parliament, state constituency, community, and school.
“We need to implement this celebration as a culture without relying entirely on the official ceremony organised by the government every year. All parties, whether in the private sector, NGOs, or village communities, need to work together to organise it to inject patriotic spirit among the local population,” she said in her speech in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day Semarak programmes organised by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Sinapokan village near here on Friday.
Her speech text was read out by her special officer, who is also the Beaufort UMNO deputy chief, Haji Jaludin Hj Kadir.
According to Aminah, who is also a Member of Parliament for Beaufort, with the organisation of independence day celebrations at the village level, it can not only arouse the spirit of patriotism among the local residents but at the same time be a vehicle to strengthen unity and the spirit of cooperation through the programmes implemented.
While congratulating the Sinapokan village KRT on the initiative to organise the programme, Aminah, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, hopes that the programme will become an annual calendar with more diverse events in the future.
At the same time, she hoped that more people would fly the Jalur Gemilang, including individuals, communities, corporate parties, and private companies, to show the spirit of National Day.
“What is important is the meaning of independence. Apart from what we express by celebrating, there are actually many other things that can be done, such as posting, speaking to each other on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and so on, as well as content that we can create ourselves through various platforms, including social media and others,” she said.
