Be a gentleman, Yong urged to state SAPP’s position or stay put, playing “two political ponds” – Jeffery Nor

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) needs to state its clear stand as to whether it wants to be part of the Unity Government or the opposition under the Perikatan Nasional (PN).

In making the call, Sabah UMNO Elections Director Jeffery Nor Mohamed said that until now, the people in this state are still in the dark about the latest status of SAPP, thus giving rise to the moniker “playing two political ponds”.

He said that the Secretary General of the Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, recently issued a similar statement regarding SAPP’s true position.

“If the Secretary General of GRS is confused about SAPP’s status, what more are the people in Sabah? The president of SAPP needs to be a gentleman in this matter.

“The statements issued are seen to be contrary to their actual stance, showing that SAPP is more likely to play two political games,” he said here today.

Jeffery Nor, who is also Putatan UMNO Division Chief, said that, at the same time, SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee does not have the moral standing to advise any party to contest or get involved in the upcoming Sabah State Election.

He said Yong, as Deputy Chairman of the GRS, had previously stated that the GRS supports the Unity Government, but at the same time, SAPP is also part of the PN coalition.

“Did he forget he himself attended the six-state election meeting organised by PN on July 17?

“Before advising any party, look at yourself first and make it clear, particularly to the people of Sabah, whether you support the Unity Government or PN,” said Jeffery.
