KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government, including its subsidiaries and GLCs, has channelled an allocation of RM6.5 million to the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) for state football development as of July this year.
Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin said of the amount, RM99,000.00 is an allocation given regularly by the government through the Sabah State Sports Council.
According to him, the allocation was focused on Sabah’s main football team and the development of grassroots football.
Ellron said this in a written reply to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak [BN-Usukan], who wanted to know the amount of government, subsidiary, and GLC allocations that had been channelled to the Football Association (SAFA) in conjunction with the recent Sabah State Legislative Assembly Meeting.
In addition, Ellron said the state government subsidiary Borneo Samudera Sdn. Bhd. contributed as much as RM5 million to help the development of football in the state.
He said the subsidiaries and GLCs that also channelled allocations for that purpose were Billion LB Sdn Bhd (RM300,000), Sri Jutaya Sdn. Bhd. (RM700,000), Sri Padasa Sdn. Bhd. (RM250,000), and SYT Sogreen Agriculture Sdn. Bhd. (RM250,000).
