He asserted that UMNO is still a force to be reckoned with in the division despite the defection of its leader and his supporters to another party, and that Beluran was previously the party’s stronghold.

“Even though it’s not a grassroots decision, we respect it. But nothing can stop us from rising again,” he stated.

Bung said this after meeting the new UMNO leadership of the Beluran division at his residence in Luyang near here on Wednesday.

The visit was led by the new Beluran UMNO chief Jumain Ratib, his deputy Benedict Asmat, and vice chief Yussof Latif Mustapha.

The party elections for the Beluran UMNO division were held last week after being postponed due to technical issues.

Bung, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, expressed his appreciation and thanks to the previous UMNO leadership, which was led by its former division Chief Julie Sabran, for the service that they had provided to the party in addition to expressing his congratulations to those who were elected to be members of the new Beluran UMNO committee for the session between 2023 and 2026.

He stated, “In any party election, there will always be a winner and a loser.” “The party election is over, and now let us move forward to strengthen the party… it’s time to deliver the goods.”

Bung is hopeful that the Beluran UMNO division will be able to work together to better serve grassroots voters and keep UMNO the popular choice in the upcoming state election.
