KOTA KINABALU: Inanam North Bus Terminal has been packed with ticketless passengers waiting their turn to catch express buses to return home, especially to celebrate Aidilfitri on the east coast of Sabah.
President of the Sabah Express Bus Operators Association (SEBOC) Donald Hanafi said existing express buses were inadequate to handle the growing number of passengers wanting to return home.
Therefore, he said the association has taken the initiative to provide additional buses, especially during the Aidilfitri festival season which will be celebrated tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, to meet the increasing demand.
“Before this, we used to issue 2,000-3,000 bus tickets a day, but as the Aidilfitri festival approaches, the demand for bus tickets to return home increases and many people run out of bus tickets. ’ he told reporters today.
However, Donald is confident that the problem of stranded passengers can be resolved as soon as possible and hopes that the passengers will reach their respective destinations before Aidilfitri.
He also reminded all express bus drivers to prioritise safety and discipline on the road for the common good.
