Describing it as the ‘earnest wish’ of Malaysians, he said only then Malaysia will have a “stable political condition”, that is crucial for its economic growth and progress, for the next five years.

He also opined that there should be no ‘honey moon’ period for the unity government led by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as there are many pressing matters which require its urgent and full attention.

“First and foremost, the present government must strive to ensure there is a lasting political stability for our country, as only then will the government be stable.

“Otherwise, we might again see political instability, which happened after the 14th general election held on 5 May, 2018 repeating itself, with incessant political upheavals. If that’s the case, how can the government govern and develop the nation effectively, then?” he contended.

He said, the present government must learn from the bad experiences in the past.

Goh who is also President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) expressed this during an interview by The Malaysian Insight, recently, in which on behalf of Huazong and FCAS, he expressed full confidence and support for the ‘unity government’ led by Anwar.

In regards to pressing matters which the government should focus on, Goh who is also President of The Federation of Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Associations (FSLHA) said matters should be given top priority include expediting recovery of domestic economy post pandemic, by introducing various effective economic policies, to keep inflation under better control, to stabilize the Ringgit, and to effectively bring down the cost of living.

He added that the government should also focus more on the future and wellbeing of Malaysian youth, especially to retain our talents which is crucial for our nation-building process, and also so that they won’t end up as victims of job scams overseas.

He hoped the present government could strive to ensure political stability in the country, and to forge greater unity among Malaysians of various races, in order to bring real progress and prosperity for the country.
