KOTA KINABALU : Hawkers at Tun Fuad Park Market, Bukit Padang, can continue to operate their business at the parking lot next to the stairway in front of the park’s entrance, said Gee Tien Siong.
Gee, Luyang Community Development Leader (PPM) said, existing facilities will be closed for business while the implementation of beautification works.
“Hopefully hawkers manage to arrange and distribute lots amicably among themselves with community spirit, while having good relationships with the contractors,” he said during a meeting with the hawkers on Wednesday.
Gee, who is also a vice president of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), requested the business operators to keep surroundings clean, after the market ended.
He thanked Kota Kinabalu Mayor Noorliza Awang Alip, officers of the City Hall (DBKK) and related parties for sensibly accepting the reasonable solution, which collectively allows hawkers to continue operation, consumers to get supplies without additional burden, while beautification works can be carried out smoothly.
Earlier on, DBKK served a notice to the hawkers at Tun Fuad Park Market to instruct them that they have to temporarily move to the parking lot next to Damai Community Hall, which caused much concern. But this directive was cancelled after Gee’s coordination.
