He expressed confidence that efforts taken by Kemas, which has a large network across the country will help achieve the desired result.

“I believe Kemas is capable of boosting the aspirations of the Malaysian Family through various social and educational programs for all levels of society, including parents,” he said.

Salleh, who is also Usukan state assemblyman, said this in his speech when officiating the Parenting Skills Workshop for the Kota Belud Parliamentary constituency at the Kemas Community Activity Centres, near here.

His speech was read out by Community Development Officer (PPM) for Usukan Amran Disah.

The concept of the Malaysian Family, which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Smail Sabri Yaacob, among others, emphasised the importance of family ties, togetherness and unity of the various races in the country.

Salleh said the concept of the Malaysian family should be instilled, not only in government administration and leadership but also ‘the same idea should start at home’.

“Such an approach is timely and should be supported by all parties, as we enter the endemic phase of Covid-19 which has changed new ways of thinking and lifestyles, including equipping parents with the knowledge and skills at home.

“For me, this is important because the family has a big influence on the personality development of children,” he said.

In addition, he said the family is the first social group that covers the lives of children compared to other external social groups.

“Therefore, parents must set an example and good morals to their children and spend quality time with them,” he said.
