KOTA KINABALU: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) has expressed its support in the nomination of Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister.
Its Secretary General Nelson Wences Angang confirmed that UPKO president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau has submitted his Statutory Declaration (SD) to the National Palace , confirming his support to the Opposition leader
He said the party is consistent in supporting Chairman of Pakatan Harapan as the new Prime Minister of Malaysia.
“We are making this clarification to clear the air should there be any confusion or claims to state otherwise,” he said in a statement today.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan had called for all 220 Members of Parliament to present their SDs by 4pm today.
This was so His Majesty can decide on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s successor following his resignation on Aug 16.
