KOTA KINABALU:KKIP Aerospace Centre will enable Sabah to tap into the high value-added aerospace industry and propel her into a high-come state.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Datuk Haji Yakub Khan said that the centre is the first in the country to offer dual-licensing from Civil Aviation Authorty of Malaysia (CAAM) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 66, Category A1 Aircraft Maintenance Technician.
He said that the centre aims to secure a significant share of revenue from the aerospace industry by developing a skilled manpower capacity.
“Looking at the projected revenue from the aerospace industry, the return is expected to reach RM55.2 billion in 2030. It is an increase of 245 percent from the RM16 billion revenue in 2019,” he said during his official visit to the KKIP Aerospace Training Centre at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) today.
The training centre is the wholly-owned subsidiary of KKIP Sdn Bhd for the development of KKIP Aerospace Training centre.The centre is an aircraft maintenance training centre in Malaysia with dual approval comprising of CAAM and EASA Part 147 to conduct Category A1 Aircraft Maintenance Technician training.
“Graduate of KKIP Aerospace Training centre will be equipped with comprehensive skills, which will be spaced out into twelve modules,” he said. The training will focus in areas of avionics, engine, body and composite works both in theory as well as on-the-job training at the centre’s hangar building and also hangars of collaboration Maintenance And Repair Organisations (MRO).
Graduates of Category A1 Aircraft Maintenance Technicians will be receiving the dual licensing to work in the aerospace industry.
“This dual licensing is important because the graduates will not only be able to work within the local aerospace industry but also internationally.”
He said that KKIP Aerospace is also in the process of establishing an aerospace with collaboration with MASWINGS and Mega Aerospace Sdn Bhd for the on-the-job training.
