KOTA KINABALU: A total of 449 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sabah today with the State capital still having the highest number of new cases with 84.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state to 43,251 since the inception of the pandemic, said Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun in his daily Covid-19 update.
He also said that there were four deaths recorded today, and he expresses his condolence to the families of those deceased where three were from Lahad Datu and one was from Tuaran.
On a positive note, another 379 patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of people who have recovered from the illness to 38,989 people. Nevertheless, a total of 2,957 patients are still being warded, with 77 people at the Intensive Care Unit and 19 requiring breathing assistance.
Masidi said that the bulk of the new cases (75.3 percent) are due to close contacts.
