KOTA KINABALU: Six new Covid-19 clusters were detected today in Sabah, contributing to the rise of daily new cases to 818.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the new clusters identified consist of three work related clusters and three community related clusters.
The work clusters are the Gipan, Kolombong Kota Kinabalu cluster, the Tinabau Kinabatangan cluster and the Simpang 3 Ranau cluster. The community clusters are Sogo-Sogo Tongod cluster, Jalan Tungku Lahad Datu cluster and Gerbang Kauran Keningau cluster which is also related to a religious activity.
He said that the new clusters contributed 61 cases today or 7.5 percent.
“Once again, it is stressed that the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and SOP must be adhered by the people of Sabah if we are to stop the spread of the cases that is on the rise,” he said in his latest social media posting.
Masidi also said that nine districts recorded over 35 cases and they are Papar with 37 cases, Tuaran with 44, Beluran with 44, Tawau with 55, Sipitang with 57, Beaufort with 66, Keningau with 69, Penampang with 77 and Kota Kinabalu with 167 cases.
Close contact screening continues to be the main contributor to the rising number of new cases in the State with 364 cases or 44.4 percent, followed by available clusters with 148 cases (18 percent), targeted screening with 104 cases (12.7 percent) with Kunak providing the most number of cases with 23 new cases.
Symptomatic screening contributed 103 cases.
