KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is set to convene its highly anticipated GRS 2026 Convention at Dewan Tun Mustapha in Kudat this coming Sunday, marking a significant milestone for the coalition.

GRS Secretary-General Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali emphasised that this landmark annual convention, scheduled for October 18 for the inaugural time, reflects a strategic decision by the GRS Supreme Council to decentralise conventions beyond Kota Kinabalu and distribute them across various districts based on operational feasibility.

The convention is poised to unite approximately 3,000 participants and observers from all 26 parliamentary constituencies throughout Sabah, encompassing the Federal Territory of Labuan.

“The convention will showcase a keynote address delivered by GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, complemented by insightful sharing sessions led by six GRS Deputy Chairmen representing the core leadership of each coalition component party,” Armizan communicated in his statement on Friday.

Armizan underscored that the convention functions as a vital forum where central leadership and divisional leaders converge to deliberate on political strategy and advancements concerning the state’s development priorities.

He elaborated that deliberations will concentrate on two essential goals: fortifying party readiness, particularly for the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16), and assessing achievements on the people’s and state’s development agenda aligned with the GRS manifesto.

“This comprehensive evaluation reinforces the execution of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 Direction to guarantee that the state’s development agenda progresses steadily,” he emphasised.
