PENAMPANG: Datuk Michael Malanjun, Chairman of STAR Sabah’s Golden Council, is spearheading the transition of more than 100 members from the STAR to the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) today.
Other STAR Party leaders joining the movement include Supreme Council Member Freddy Ekol and James Kenson.
They submitted their membership applications to PGRS Penampang Division Chief, Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, during a gathering at ITCC, near here.
Michael explained that his decision to align with PGRS and the Sabah People’s Coalition (GRS) stems from his commitment to advancing his political mission for Sabah and continuing to serve the state.
“My political journey has always been centered on Sabah, and I remain dedicated to contributing to our homeland. I view GRS as the ideal platform to pursue this mission and leverage my experience to support Sabah’s progress and our people,” he stated.
Michael expressed his confidence in GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor’s leadership approach, citing it as a key factor in his decision to join PGRS.
“I deeply respect Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji’s leadership style. I am convinced I can still make meaningful contributions and play an active role, within my capacity, to help propel Sabah forward,” he remarked.
Welcoming their participation, Mandela emphasized that PGRS values the political expertise of every individual who chooses to become part of the party.
“I warmly welcome Datuk Michael, Freddy, James, and all our new members joining us today. Each brings their own valuable experience, and I am confident these contributions will benefit our community and Sabah,” he noted.
He stressed that GRS must remain an inclusive organization, welcoming not only those with political backgrounds but anyone eager to participate and make a difference.
