TENOM: The government has approved RM3.9 million to implement 14 Small-Scale Farmer Road Projects across Tenom, Kemabong, and Keningau, said
Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Noraini emphasized that these additional initiatives, channeled through the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), are essential for enabling smallholder farmers to access their plantations more efficiently and transport their harvests to market with greater ease.
“When farm access becomes more convenient, produce can reach markets faster, directly boosting farmer incomes,” she stated during the Community Leaders Together Program in Kampung Kemabong Lama today.
The government has additionally approved RM300,000 to widen the concrete road connecting Kampung Kemabong Lama with Kampung Kemabong Baru.
According to Noraini, these improvements are expected to enhance resident mobility, streamline daily activities, and facilitate agricultural product transportation.
During the same program, the ministry and MPOB contributed RM7,300 to Kemabong National School for developing the School Digital Interaction Class (KIDS), alongside school uniforms for 50 underprivileged students.
Noraini also disclosed that the Al-Barakah Surau at MPOB in the village was constructed at a cost of RM145,000, funded entirely through personal donations and contributions from MPOB employees nationwide, without utilizing official agency allocations.
She noted that 29 Sustainable Palm Oil Farmer Cooperatives (KPSM) have been established in Sabah, engaging 2,943 participants, while KPSM Kemabong Tenom Berhad maintains 111 members.
