STAR Sabah rules out formal alliance talks

KOTA KINABALU : Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) Sabah president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has said there are no official discussions with Warisan or Parti KDM on any political collaboration or alliance, stressing that the party’s immediate priority is to strengthen its own position in Sabah.

‘No official discussions’, says Kitingan

Speaking during STAR Sabah’s 10th anniversary gathering in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday (Aug 30), Kitingan dismissed speculation about a new local-party pact.

“There are no official discussions with Warisan or KDM regarding any political collaboration or alliance,” he told members.

His remark follows earlier comments by Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who disclosed there had been informal talks between STAR and Parti KDM, led by Prescilla Peter, on a possible local-based alliance or electoral pact for the coming general election.

He said focus was on building strength, not dependence.

“Focus is to strengthen STAR Sabah, strengthen our position, and strengthen the voice of Sabah,” he stated.
