“Sherlin is not my child” – PHRS President claims he is being defamed

TAWAU: “My child’s name is Sammie Liew, not Sherlin Liew Zi Ling.”

This was the firm statement from the President of the Sabah People’s Hope Party (PHRS), Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, after his name and family were linked on social media to a defendant in a case involving the distribution of 659.16 grams of MDMA or ecstasy in Tawau.

Liew asserted that the allegation claiming Sherlin Liew Zi Ling is his daughter is a serious defamation that harms the reputation of his family and the party.

“We will file a police report against this defamation that has tarnished my reputation and that of PHRS,” he stated in a press release today.

Liew, who is also the Vice President of GRS, mentioned that for the past few days, there have been social media posts attempting to link the accused with his child.

He emphasized that his child has never been involved in this case and hopes that action will be taken against those who deliberately spread such claims.

Earlier, six individuals were jointly charged in the Tawau Magistrate’s Court with the offense of distributing 659.16 grams of MDMA or ecstasy at a luxury guesthouse in Taman Nordin, Jalan Kuhara at around 4:30 AM on August 26.

The charges were filed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
