KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (ANAK NEGERI) President, Datuk Henrynus Amin, warmly welcomes and expresses its utmost gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, YAB Dato’ Sri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for the announcement of RM4.06 billion in Kudat yesterday allocated to comprehensively address and mitigate chronic water supply problems in Sabah.
He said this significant financial commitment marks a critical turning point for the state. Clean and reliable water access has been a persistent challenge for households, businesses, and communities across Sabah for years.
The injection of these federal funds demonstrates a resolute, proactive, and compassionate response by the Unity Government to the daily struggles faced by the rakyat.
He noted that the RM4.06 billion allocation is a decisive step forward which should address the root causes of Sabah’s infrastructure deficits, paving the way for sustainable long-term solutions rather than temporary stopgap measures.
Highlighting specific ground realities, Henrynus pointed out the persistent water shortages and weak water pressure affecting high-rise buildings in Sandakan and Inanam due to broken pipes and leakages, alongside the distressing issue of muddy tap water delivered to almost every house in Ranau.
He emphasised that these localised crises underscore the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul rather than superficial fixes.
Further, he said, reliable water supply is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of public health, education, and economic development. This allocation brings much-needed relief to local communities and businesses.
Parti ANAK NEGERI stands ready to support and cooperate with both the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Sabah State Government to ensure that these projects are executed transparently, efficiently, and without delay.
