Jerry describes Hamzah’s critique of Azam Baki as politically motivated

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Jerry Ambunting Mohd Said, former president of the Sabah RELA Honorary Members Association, has said that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin’s challenge to the appointment of Tan Sri Azam Baki to the National Financial Crime Prevention Centre (NFCC) Advisory Board appears driven by political motives and comes too early.

Jerry emphasised that Azam’s selection stems from his substantial background as head of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), along with his deep knowledge in anti-corruption efforts, enforcement, and governance.

He stressed that assessments of individuals should not be shaped by public perception or political influence but should instead allow due legal procedures to take their course.

Jerry also called on all parties to accept the government’s decision and give Azam the space to carry out his duties effectively, supporting national initiatives to tackle financial crime.
