KOTA KINABALU: The appointment of Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah as the chairman of the Technology Depository Agency (TDA) is regarded as a significant recognition for the people of Sabah, as well as an opportunity to strengthen the development of a technology- and innovation-based economy.
Commenting on his appointment, Liew stated that the trust placed in him to lead this strategic agency demonstrates the government’s confidence in the capabilities of Sabah’s children to play a crucial role in the nation’s technology-driven economic development.
“This is not just an honour for me, but a recognition of the potential of Sabah’s youth to lead the agenda of technology, innovation, and the commercialisation of research outcomes,” he remarked
He made these remarks after a courtesy visit to the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
He noted that Sabah has significant potential to emerge as a technological economic hub, particularly in the fields of digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), green energy, biotechnology, and innovation-based industries.
He emphasised that close collaboration between the government, universities, and the private sector can accelerate technology transfer, attract investments, and create high-skilled job opportunities in the state.
