Water issues and damaged roads highlight the ongoing basic problems faced by the people – Shafie

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said residents of Sabah are still grappling with longstanding basic issues such as inconsistent water supply and worsening road infrastructure.

He pointed to conditions in Bandar Leila, Sandakan where people rely on buckets and containers to carry water, and the hazardous roads in Gum-Gum as clear examples of everyday hardships faced by communities.

Shafie stressed that locals are not asking for extravagant improvements—just reliable access to fundamental services like clean water, safe roads, and functional public amenities.

“These problems resurface every year. People voice their concerns, authorities make promises, but real, noticeable solutions remain missing,” he said in a statement.

He urged the government to focus on resolving these core challenges, emphasizing their direct effect on citizens’ well-being and the state’s economic progress.
