Sabah FC aims for a positive result in Penang on Saturday

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah FC is counting on strong support from fans, especially those from Sabah living in Peninsular Malaysia, to help the team secure the best possible outcome in the first leg of the MFL Challenge Cup 2025/2026 final against Penang FC at the City Stadium, Penang, this Saturday.

Team manager, Mohd Arziz Afizy Rumsani, said that the presence of supporters at the match venue can not only boost the players’ morale but also play a crucial role in the team’s efforts to achieve a positive result away from home.

He said Sabah FC is taking the challenge from Penang FC seriously and does not want to underestimate this final match.

“I urge all Sabah FC supporters, especially those in Penang and around Peninsular Malaysia, to come out in large numbers to support our team in this final match,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He added that the team is also aiming to bring home a goal advantage before facing the second leg of the final at Likas Stadium on April 19.

He believes that the support from fans at the away ground can be a catalyst for the players’ performance in their quest for the trophy.

At the same time, the presence of fans at high-profile matches like the final is seen as a way to enhance the local football atmosphere, including in terms of economic benefits on match day and strengthening the club’s brand.

The first leg of the final is scheduled to kick off at 9 PM
