KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man was discovered floating by the banks of the Kalansanan River in Inanam this morning.
The police received a report from a staff member of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) around 10:27 AM.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, ACP Kasim Muda, said that the police team was quickly dispatched to the scene after receiving information about the discovery of the man’s body by the river, approximately 30 metres from the main road near Jalan Pintas to Ujana Kingfisher.
He said that an initial examination by the Kota Kinabalu IPD Criminal Investigation Division along with the Sabah IPK forensic team found no injuries or signs of foul play on the body, and the victim was identified as a 34-year-old local man.
The body has been sent to Queen Elizabeth I Hospital (HQEI) for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death.
Kasim also advised the public not to make any speculations that could hinder the police investigation and urged them to provide any relevant information to the authorities
