KPDN to monitor prices of 14 items for Christmas

KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will implement the Maximum Price Scheme for the Christmas 2025 season from December 23 to 27 to control the rise in essential goods prices ahead of the Christmas celebration.

Its Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said  the five-day scheme covers 14 key items, including imported goat meat, selected vegetables, chicken wings, as well as live cattle and pigs for Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

He said the implementation period is set based on current conditions to allow consumers to enjoy reasonable prices without putting excessive pressure on traders.

“KPDN will place enforcement officers at public markets, farmers’ markets, and shopping centers to ensure compliance with maximum prices,” he said.

Traders are required to display pink price labels for controlled items, and strict action may be taken against those selling above the set prices.

In addition to price control, KPDN is also launching the MADANI Christmas Rahmah Sales Program and the MADANI@Petronas Goodwill Service Program from December 18 to 27 to help ease the cost of living for the people.
