Jamawi visited the fish landing site at the SAFMA complex on his first day as Minister

KOTA KINABALU: Just hours after officially starting his role as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry of Sabah, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar went to the field to inspect the Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn Bhd (SAFMA) complex, located near the  Kota Kinabalu Central Market, near here on Wednesday night.

He was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary (SUT) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry of Sabah, Datuk Leonard Stephen Poyong, along with senior officials from various 

agencies and companies under the ministry.

“On our first day in the ministry, I have already gone to the field with the SUT.

“Tonight, we are inspecting the fish landing operations, and based on feedback from the ship operators and traders, everything is in good condition,” he stated in a video of the visit uploaded on his Facebook.

In this regard, Jamawi expressed his gratitude to SAFMA for providing excellent services to the ship operators and wholesalers.

“This is what we want, operations and dealings from the grassroots level to the top to be in good order,” he remarked.

He also expressed his happiness at seeing many young people involved in businesses related to fishing activities.
