TONGOD: Head of Women Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Kuamut, Jalilah Apiang, insists that there is no need for the government to build affordable housing in Tongod district so far except low-cost houses.
Sabah Warisan Women Head, Nurfaiza Chua, alleged in a portal site this week that the alleged construction of affordable housing and SMJ village in Tongod as rhetoric and political candy was inaccurate.
“It is not time for the government to build affordable housing in Tongod, which is usually set up in a large city, as it involves a price of between RM250 and RM350 thousand per unit.
“Of course the high cost of housing is beyond the capabilities of rural residents such as the average low-income Tongod,” he said.
Jalilah reminds the head of the Warisan Women, ‘If you want to find publicity, do not lie to the people instead of consulting the Tongod District Office first.’
He said Kuamut People’s Representative Datuk Masiung Banah recently announced the construction of 50 units of low-cost houses at RM47,000 per unit and Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) village.
Obviously, the SMJ house was given free of charge by the Gabungan Rakyat (GRS) to the low-income group, and the aid was never done during the legacy of government.
According to Jalilah, low-cost home construction sites are already available and will be implemented by the Housing and Urban Development Authority (LPPB) beginning early next year.
Meanwhile, the proposal to provide the SMJ housing area will begin early next year, as the assistance of the house this year has already been offered to 40 eligible recipients.
According to him, a new area will be provided for the assistance of SMJ’s home next year specifically for non-site recipients and applicants who do not.
Jalilah advised Nurfaiza to be careful not to make any inaccurate and misleading statements.
