KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah has no desire to collaborate with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the upcoming state election (PRN).
The Sabah UMNO Election Director, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, stated that this is because BN Sabah seeks partners who are sincere, honest, and committed to their promises in forming a coalition.
He said that it is very challenging for BN to accept GRS since most of its members are those who have ‘jumped’ from BN or UMNO to other parties.
In this regard, Jeffery, who is also the Putatan UMNO Chief, expressed his support for the statement made by the Sabah UMNO Chief regarding the coalition issue.
“What is happening in Sabah now makes it very difficult for us to accept GRS because many Sabahans are responding with ‘they will reject’ the current government,” he said in a statement today.
Regarding GRS’s decision to collaborate with Pakatan Harapan (PH), Jeffery remarked, “It is up to PH to join whoever they wish.”
“We in UMNO Sabah have a fundamental principle – first, we have already announced our cooperation with PH, not with any other party.
“So if PH Sabah chooses to collaborate with GRS, that is their decision; however, the majority of our leadership rejects the collaboration with GRS,” he stated.
Jeffery emphasised that the voice of the people demanding change cannot be ignored. 0
“How could we not wisely assess the responses of the people of Sabah? The people of Sabah want change from what currently exists.
“Certainly, the main principle makes it very difficult for us to accept those who were once with us and left us in times of hardship… how could we allow ourselves to be deceived repeatedly and bitten by the same snake?” he said.
