KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Government is urged to establish a branch of the Polytechnic in Kota Marudu to meet the needs of the people, particularly students or youth in the northern part of Sabah.
In making the call, former Assistant District Education Officer of Kota Marudu, Jimson Majemal, stated that the proposal deserves consideration given that Kota Marudu is centrally located in the northern region of Sabah.
“I believe Kota Marudu is deserving of a polytechnic due to its strategic position.
“Kota Marudu is situated in the heart of districts such as Kota Belud, Kudat, Pitas, Sandakan, Beluran, and Ranau,” he said in a statement today.
According to Jimson, as a forward-thinking government, the Madani federal government must be attentive to the needs of the youth in rural areas and the vast geographical landscape of Sabah.
Additionally, Jimson, who is also a native of Tandek, mentioned that the Kota Marudu area is rapidly developing, making it highly appropriate for this progress to be accompanied by the establishment of a polytechnic in Kota Marudu.
“If there is a branch of UMS in Sandakan, UiTM in Tawau, and a Teacher Training Institute in Keningau, the northern region of Sabah should also enjoy similar facilities, at the very least having a Polytechnic branch,” said Jimson, who is also the Acting President of the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) for the Kota Marudu District.
